I'm Carol, the Crone of Cronehaven Pottery. I first learned to work with clay in middle school and continued to study ceramic arts through high school and college. In the decades since, I returned to clay whenever the opportunity presented--as an outlet for creativity while navigating the mundane, a source of peace in hard times, a way to center myself in the chaos of working corporate IT jobs and raising 2 kids.
Starting Cronhaven is the culmination of those years as an opportunistic artist and the dream of living as a fulltime artist.
I use primarily mid-range stoneware clays and food safe glazes. I love experimenting with a variety techniques and styles including wheel throwing, hand building, carving, sculpting, and slip trailing. All pieces are fired in electric kilns in oxidation. Each piece I make is handmade and one of a kind.
Each piece of Cronehaven Pottery is unique and durable. All functional ware is dishwasher/microwave safe. My bakeware is oven safe as well.
I occasionally make decorative and wearable pieces using the same clays and glazes I use for functional ware. I rarely accept requests for commission pieces.
